HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Chelsey left behind an enormous collection of greeting cards for absolutely every occasion, especially birthdays. Her planner marked birthdays of friends and family every day and the only logical conclusion was that there was a connection. Even as a little girl, she loved stationery, cards, and stamps. I'm convinced her job at Paper Source was a break-even endeavor if what she left behind is any indication. So slowly this ides began to percolate.
We’re calling it Altitude 14505 to honor what inspires us to keep going despite obstacles, to celebrate each day, especially birthdays and to keep on climbing. Altitude 14505 is Chelsey’s celebration legacy project and all of you are my ambassadors, my hikers, my celebrators. We’re also going to tap into that horrible feeling when you realize it is someone’s birthday and it’s too late to do anything but post it on Facebook like everyone else or text a hastily composed “Hope you’ve had a Happy Birthday” at 10:30 at night. Guilty of both. Real heartfelt, right? Altitude 14505 is going to fix that AND get kids on the top of Mt. Whitney!
SO…HERE’S HOW THIS WORKS:
01.
Donate $145 to DYF (Diabetes Youth Families) by clicking the button below. This accomplishes a few things…your donation goes to sponsoring teens to climb Mt. Whitney, to provide supplies that make the climb possible and to positively alter the way these kids deal with their chronic disease for the rest of their lives.
02.
Fill out the form below with 10 names, addresses, email addresses and birthdays of special people in your life + your information. We will send your friend, sister, nephew an Altitude 14505 birthday card in a bright yellow envelope (Chelsey’s favorite color) celebrating his/her BIG DAY. The card will indicate that you have made a contribution to the Mt. Whitney climb and wish them a very happy birthday, on time!
03.
THANK YOU!
A few extra stars twinkle in the night sky because of you.
The hard costs of the trip are about $28,000/year and the Altitude 14505 Takes Mt. Whitney climb occurs every other year. The next climb will be in 2019. Our goal is to raise enough money to enable the climb to happen every year to the tune of about 2,000 birthday cards sent out annually. In theory, with each card we send, we will be introducing someone new to the idea, someone who might be as intrigued and delighted as all of you. Can I hear an “OH YEAH!!!” ??
